More Than Music: Fun in the Sun

More Than Music: Fun in the Sun

April 21, 2017

As any Mamby On The Beach attendee can tell you, the lakefront festival is about so much more than just the amazing music. Each year, the festival hosts a wealth of exciting art installations scattered across the grounds. As part of Mamby’s “More Than Music” series, we will take a closer look at some of the most thrilling activities, starting with some of our interactive opportunities for creative expression.

The festival has everything from sculptures to paintings and includes stunning work from a variety of artists. While walking throughout the festival grounds, fans will be able to witness live painting demonstrations by local spray artists Afro Killa, Don Mega, Leekovision and more. Joining them will be high octane, live fire performances by the Pyrotechniq and Chicago Moon Fire Jams, giving attendees the chance to experience intense feats of wonder and talent as the teams manipulate fire to their whim.

Chicago collective Bam Creates will be returning to the grounds once again to present beautiful and meticulous art installations, including a new and improved tiki bar, complete with specialty cocktails and beverage options as an added VIP treat, will also be making a welcome return to the Mamby grounds. Grab a cool drink from one of the Tiki Bar’s friendly mixologists before hitting the sand and stages!

Explore the beachfront paradise throughout the weekend to discover an inspiring collection of diverse art installations scattered across the festival grounds! From returning favorites to a brilliant collection of brand new pieces, the Mamby space will be a wash of color, expression and spectacle.

Returning to Oakwood Beach will be a one of a kind Burning Man favorite, the Solarbeatz Art Car. Standing as the “ultimate exhibition of clean energy,” the Solarbeatz Art Car is a mobile soundstage and performance venue fueled by an array of electronics to create an outrageous audio-visual experience all powered by the sun! Over the course of the Mamby weekend, the Art Car will host a wide assortment of activities including silent disco yoga along with wellness workshops. Schedule and more details for these programs to be unveiled next week.

Attendees are invited to tap into their spiritual center via stations providing Tarot Card and Palm readings. Learn your future and life’s mystical truths with the onsite fortune tellers, and be wowed by their predictions as you experience the full scope of Mamby’s inclusive exhibitions.
